Timeline

From coin slots to cultural icon

Founded in 1960 as Service Games, SEGA grew from Japanese arcade imports into a global amusement giant. By the 1980s, hits like Space Harrier, Out Run, and After Burner dominated floors worldwide.

Home consoles followed — each generation pushing speed, color, and personality. SEGA left hardware in 2001, but the franchises endure through remasters, compilations, and new chapters.
